HS287 – AVM2-PC Metering Capacity Upgrade
HS287 is an upgrade kit for AVM2-PC which allows the testing of injection pumps with a delivery up to 750mm3/st.
The normal maximum capacity for the AVM2-PC metering unit is about 400mm3/st depending on the speed of the pump under test. The capacity is mainly limited by the injected oil flow through the solenoid valves.
This upgrade kit directs the injected flow via duplex manifolds through 2 solenoid valves so that the maximum flow is increased to about 750mm³/st depending on the speed of the pump under test.
How does it work?
The modified metering system allows the measurement of higher injected deliveries from the pump under test. This is achieved by using two metering solenoids per line when high deliveries are to be measured.
The HS287 has two modes: Standard (position 1) and High Delivery (position 2).
For injection pumps with maximum deliveries up to about 300mm3/st, Hartridge recommends that the metering system is used in standard mode (or position 1) – i.e. one line from the pump is piped to one line of the metering system.
For injection pumps having higher deliveries than 300mm3/st, Hartridge recommends that the metering system is used in the duplex mode (or position 2) – ie one line from the pump is piped to two lines of the metering system.

If a 6 line high delivery pump is to be tested, all 6 duplex manifold assemblies are used and the injectors must be connected as below:

Metering screen set-up
When the duplex manifolds are used and injectors positioned as described above, the lines selected on the metering screen must be 1 to 6 irrespective of the position of the injectors. Individual injectors can be selected or not-selected as normal.
How do I set it up?
The kit is available works fitted with a new AVM2-PC or a competent service engineer can install the kit on an existing AVM2-PC. It will involve modification to the current wiring in the metering control PCB enclosure situated in the swinging arm of the AVM2-PC.
